Colorado EMS Refresher

FOAMfrat Studio offers CAPCE-accredited continuing education courses accepted by the NREMT for Colorado EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics—meeting both national and state-specific requirements 

Colorado follows NREMT requirements for EMS recertification. All certifications are renewed every two years and follow the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model with three components: national, local/state, and individual education components.

EMT Refresher

40 hours total continuing education required

National: 20 Hours

Local/State: 10 Hours

Individual: 10 Hours

AEMT Refresher

50 hours total continuing education required

National: 25 Hours

Local/State: 12.5 Hours

Individual: 12.5 Hours

Paramedic Refresher

60 hours total continuing education required

National: 30 Hours

Local/State: 15 Hours

Individual: 15 Hours

Additional Information: 

Colorado EMS certification is valid for 3 years. If you hold a current and valid NREMT certificate, you have exceeded Colorado’s requirements and do not need to complete additional hours or skills when renewing your Colorado provider certification.

For EMS providers who are not natioanlly registered they must complete the required amount of continuing education for their practice level.
