Arkansas EMS Refresher
FOAMfrat Studio offers CAPCE-accredited continuing education courses accepted by the NREMT for Arkansa EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics—meeting both national and state-specific requirements
Arkansa follows NREMT requirements for EMS recertification. All certifications are renewed every two years and follow the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model with three components: national, local/state (outlined below), and individual education components.
EMT Refresher
40 hours total continuing education required
National: 20 Hours
Local/State: 10 Hours
Individual: 10 Hours
AEMT Refresher
50 hours total continuing education required
National: 25 Hours
Local/State: 12.5 Hours
Individual: 12.5 Hours
Paramedic Refresher
60 hours total continuing education required
National: 30 Hours
Local/State: 15 Hours
Individual: 15 Hours
Additional Information:
All providers are required to complete a 2-hour Arkansas Trauma System course, available here.
EMT State/Local Requirement: The required continuing education includes Arkansas Trauma System (2 hours), Pediatric (2 hours), Stroke/CVA (2 hours), Cardiology (2 hours), Documentation (1 hour), and Ethics and Professionalism (1 hour).
AEMT State/Local Requirement: The required continuing education includes Arkansas Trauma System (2 hours), Pediatric (2.5 hours), Stroke/CVA (2 hours), Cardiology (2 hours), Documentation (2 hours), and Ethics and Professionalism (2 hours).
Paramedic State/Local Requirement: The required continuing education includes Arkansas Trauma System (2 hours), Pediatric (3 hours), Stroke/CVA (4 hours), Cardiology (2 hours), Documentation (2 hours), and Ethics and Professionalism (2 hours).
